Speed Up Blogger Blog (Score 90+)

Here are the ways that I’ve used to achieve a 90+ score in both (Mobile & Desktop) version of Google PageSpeed Insights.

Use Fast Loading Blogger Template

There are thousands of blogger templates out there online. But not all templates are well-equipped with fast blogging.

Good writing means well-organized code with only Javascript and CSS required.

You can also visit these sites to download blogger template Templatesyard, templateify, etc and you can also you any sites to download blogger template.

Use Compressed Images

Use compressed images, can increase your blog loading time by about 20-30%.

And compressed images are one of the top reasons behind the slow loading speed of a blog or website.

So be sure to compress your photos before uploading them to your blog.

You can use Photoshop to compress your web photos or you can use the tinypng.com  website I use to compress images.

Don’t Use Google Fonts

Google Custom Fonts may look good on the eyes but it is one of the most blocking features that can greatly increase your blog upload time.

If we use even 1 Google font on our blog, it will adversely affect the speed of your blog and increase upload time.

It is therefore recommended that you do not use custom google fonts for your blog, which can improve blog performance and speed.

Note: It will change the font family for your blog.

How to Remove Google Fonts in Blogger Template?

1. Go to Blogger Dashboard

2. Go to the theme option and click edit HTML

3. Now in the middle of <head> & </head> You will find a GoogleAPI code like this.
<link href='//fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans:400,600,700' media='all' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'/>
4. Simple select and remove the GoogleAPI code from your template.

Remove Unnecessary Widgets

Unwanted widgets can slow down your blog. Like the Facebook page, YouTube Video widgets in the sidebar it can increase the impact of third party code.

Therefore it is recommended, Use only the required widgets and remove unnecessary widgets from your Blogspot blog.

Use less Number of Javascript

Javascript codes take longer to load than other codes on your blog. I would therefore advise you to use small JavaScript codes for your blog.

Google Adsense also uses JavaScript to display ads on your blog, so use the minimum number of ads on your blog.

Remove background images

If you use any of the background images on your blog it will increase the loading time of the blogs.

Remove the background of your Blogspot blog to make it loading faster.

Use few posts on the homepage

Using a larger number of posts on your blog homepage will increase its loading time as it will also load images while loading your homepage.

And as we all know that images can slow down your blog upload speed even when pressed.

So using a small amount of posts on your blog's homepage can greatly increase the upload time of your Blog.

Use Fewer Posts On Homepage

To reduce the number of posts from your homepage, simply go to Settings> Posts. and you will see "Max posts shown on main page" then reducing the amount from “Show At most” to “5 Posts On the Main page”.

Last Word

If you are not used to encoding then be sure to back up your blog before making any changes.

Let me know in the comments section if it can help. And feel free to share it with your friends, family members & co-workers if it helps.
